Manchester Digital
10 March 2009 - Manchester Digital held its annual elections.
Manchester Digital has a two-tier structure. The Manchester Digital Association is governed by a 12-person elected council. The council appoints a smaller board to run a company, Manchester Digital Ltd - a sort of trading wing.
Elections for the council of the association took place at the AGM in Portland Street on the 10 March. This year an impressive 23 people competed for the 12 places. While this is surely a sign of health, it inevitably leads to disappointment for some. Of the 12 people elected all but three were existing members of the council. The three new members are all women, bringing the total number of women to four - not bad for a (mostly) male-dominated industry.

Background
Manchester Digital is almost certainly the largest independent ICT and new media trade association in the UK. It starts from the idea that by working together businesses and people involved in the digital sector can do more.
